Barter Island Landfarms
This project required RCI to establish two landfarms in the North Slope village of Kaktovik. The first landfarm entailed the in-situ treatment of POL contaminated soil. Fertilizer was incorporated into the soil and aerated with an excavator. The second site involved the spreading of 450 yds of POL soil into a bermed containment area and aerating it with a tiller attachment towed behind an ATV.

Moose Mountain Road Upgrades
This project entailed a new 10’ fish passage and overflow culvers, construction of approximately 1,200 ft of new road alignment, removal of the old road, and soil stabilization.
Chicken, AK
This project included repairing 4 trail access and parking areas along the Taylor Highway, northeast of Tok, Alaska.
Indian Mountain LRRS
The intent of this project was to protect a well house from an eroding stream bank. To accomplish this project, heavy equipment and supplies were mobilized with the use of a Hercules C-130 aircraft. The existing failing timber supports were removed from the stream bank and a 1,500 sq. ft. gabion wall was installed. Borrow materials for the wall were mined approximately 8 miles away and transported to the site.

NSB Area Wide Fill Stations
In 2004 Ridge contracted with the North Slope Borough to install truck fill stations in six different villages on the North Slope. This work involved mobilization with the use of DC-6 airplanes and careful coordination with each village corporation. Our tasks included liner installation, fence installation, fuel system installation, site grading, contaminated soil removal and drilling in permafrost.

Oliktok
This scope of work involved the demolition and removal of an entire fuel tank farm and the installation of a new fuel system. Demolition involved removing eight vertical fuel storage tanks totaling over 200,000 gallons. Removal and disposal of product, sludge, piping and pump house. The new system included the installation of two above ground storage tanks, two day tanks, all associated piping, alarms, meters and valves. All new steel materials were applied with industrial coatings.

Wainwright Tank Coating and Containment Upgrades
Ridge Contracting systematically removed a 10,000 gallon above ground storage tank from its fuel containment area, graded the site, applied an industrial tank coating, installed a new liner and performed fence repairs. Under a separate contract LCMF engineers contracted with Ridge to repair a faulty liner in the cities bulk fuel storage area. Cathodic protection was added to the existing fuel lines as well as new pipe coatings.

Barrow Waste Oil Burners
During one of Barrows cold winter months RCI installed eight waste oil burners in multiple buildings for the North Slope Borough. The tasks included pipefitting, HVAC and coordination with other subcontractors.

Kotzebue
Contaminated soil removal and test pitting.
Ft. Yukon
Excavation, removal, and decommission of an underground storage tank.
Tin City
RCI worked with a contractor who specializes in steel work to perform upgrades to the Tram Tower at Tin City. The tower height was extended and a concrete base was added to the existing foundation for additional weight.

Wainwright Snow Fence Repairs
RCI contracted with the North Slope Borough and the local Wainwright Native Corporation to make repairs to the existing snow fence within Wainwright. Materials were flown into the village.
Pt. Hope Evacuation Road
The surface course of the existing evacuation road was removed and salvaged. Geotextile fabric was placed and sewn together. A layer of local borrow was placed on the geotextile and sewn up in a large "burrito wrap". This method was designed due to the low quality of local borrow materials. Once the road was built up approximately 3 - 5 feet, the salvaged surface course was replaced on the top 12", graded and compacted. Multiple culverts were also removed and replaced. This project was a challenge due to barge schedules, the remoteness of the village, and the availability of local resources.

Landfill Outfall Piping
RCI installed 6" pilings, a custom fabricated catwalk, and culvert at the North Slope Borough landfill in Barrow. Equipment was dismantled to fit into a DC-6 airplane during mobilization activities.
