Aniak Remodel
In the fall of 2007 Ridge was contracted to demolish four former BLM buildings on Mayflower Island near Juneau, Alaska. The property was being turned over to the United States Coast Guard and therefore all structures including concrete stem walls and footings had to be removed. The site was graded with imported gravel and compacted for future development. RCI removed and disposed of over 750 tons of general debris.

Sparrevohn Clean-up Contract
This was an FAA Radome recovery / cleanup project. A Radome was ripped from its foundation during a wind storm. Pieces of debris were scattered for miles. This limited access job was completed with the help of all terrain vehicles and a helicopter. Ridge's crew had to fight the brush and bugs in order to gather large pieces of debris. The debris was sling loaded to the nearby landing strip where it was then transported by chartered aircraft to Anchorage for disposal.
Dillingham Tank Pull
Ridge decommissioned a fuel storage tank at the Dillingham airport and built a long term stock pile for the contaminated soil. Later that year Ridge also flew into the nearby village of Portage Creek and excavated a fuel oil spill. Lodging for the crew was in tents. Local equipment was available on site to complete the project.
Iliamna Clean-up Project
This was an environmental waste clean up project for the FAA. Tasks included asbestos abatement, lead paint removal, general debris cleanup and decommissioning FAA housing units. Debris that was not suitable for onsite disposal was consolidated, containerized and loaded onto a chartered C-130 aircraft and transported to Anchorage for disposal in a DEC permitted landfill.

Amakanak Island
The scope of this project involved site characterization, smashing and disposing of old POL drums, setting well head vaults, installing bollards, removing and reinstalling fence and finish grading several acres of land for drainage.

Cold Bay Civil Services
Ridge Contracting has had several projects in this community. The largest project involved the excavation and remediation of 15,000 tons of contaminated soil. Other tasks on this project involved concrete pad demolition, poly-liner debris cleanup, backfilling, and final grading. Other projects included demolition of an FAA commissary building, removal and disposal of several concrete foundations and capped an old landfill. Equipment for our Cold Bay work has been found locally and also transported by barge.

Unalaska Remedial Action
During the months of August September 2007, RCI mobilized to Dutch Harbor and excavated 3,300 tons of POL contaminated soils. The soil was placed directly into lined containers and barged to Oregon for disposal. The location of the excavation was near the footings of several historic buildings and the contaminated soil could not be immediately transported offsite; so safety, planning and communication were paramount in getting this project completed on time and without incident. All backfill material was blasted locally and transported to the site with 10 yard end dumps.

Sand Point
Site assessment and test pits.
Kodiak Island
Site assessment and excavation of test pits.
King Salmon
Site assessment and test pits.
Portage Creek
Excavation, transportation, cell construction, and stockpiling of contaminated soils.
Bethel

Southwest Airports Flood Repair
RCI contracted with ADOT and a local contractor to the Bethel area. This project involved providing and delivering 1,700 yards of surface course material and placing it on Airport runways at two different villages on the Kuskokwim River.

Napakiak Tank Foundation
RCI contracted with Alaska Energy Authority and a local contractor to the Bethel area. This project involved providing and delivering over 3,000 yards of NFS compactable material and constructing a tank pad for a future tank farm. Work also included, clear and grub, timber foundations, and moving and setting the new tanks. The crew flew back to Bethel each night for lodging.
